Commander's Corner

Print by Mort KunstlerI hope everyone had an outstanding holiday season, are well rested and ready to go for a new reenacting season. Here are the rumors and reminders - as we see it.

First - the picture to the left is the latest Mort Kunstler offering. The teams in the background are taken from the photos he took of us in Raleigh. The title is "Forming the Line." He is doing a second piece of a Columbiad being moved in Charleston and it features us also.

Second - As many of you know our mentors in California do a Mexican War impression and are working on a 1916-WWI impression. We have decided to put together a Revolutionary War impression, since it was fought in our backyard. We are working with both the folks at Guilford Court House and the 17th Light Dragoons to develop the particulars for the Royal Artillery unit that fought at Guilford CH in 1781.

Third - Our petition for recognition as the "Rowan Artillery" chapter of the Field Artillery Association has been approved. Individual membership is $20.00 annually.

)Fourth - The business meeting is this coming weekend at Catawba College - see directions. We will be developing this year's schedule so look for an update to be published after the meeting.

Finally - Please plan to attend the training weekend at Camp Burt - We plan to really work on improving our impression as well as integrating our operations with other units of the Legion.

See ya there!

David L. Stanley, Capt. Cmdg.
