The Commander's Corner

Well, yesterday (19 January 2007) was the 26th NCT’s business meeting.   I think attendance was down, for the artillery also, but it still was a good meeting.   The schedule appears to be set and you can see it posted on this page.   We have worked the particulars for the Jackson’s Valley Campaign and the Maryland Campaign.  We can not go to McDowell, Virginia.

In the financial report we had $3,532.22 as our balance.   We started 2006 with $1492.22, earned $2,915 during the year while spending $875, which was mostly travel expenses.  After consulting the membership at the meeting we made a $500.00 donation to the 26th NCT’s New Bern Monument.  I want to keep this account growing incase we need to make a large programmed expenditure.  I am currently planning on purchasing two wheels in July which will cost us $1600.00.

We had 28 members who paid their dues in 2006, I am asking all of you to pay your dues promptly this year by sending $30.00 to Sam Prestipino at 5107 Brookstone Drive, Durham, North Carolina 27713.  Please make your checks payable to the 26th NCT.   Let’s get this done quickly folks; this money goes to support all of us and our operations during the year.

I have also attached an Emergency Information Sheet that each one of you needs to fill out and return to Ronnie Overby, 1225 Front Street, Eden, NC 27288.  Ronnie will make you a “medical card” you can put in your wallet which can alert EMT personnel if you are involved in an accident.  This is a great idea.

Folks, the hobby is moving in a positive direction, more emphasis on a good impression.  It is time for all of us to get in step.   Several of us have spent a considerable amount of money making sure we have the correct equipment for this impression.   I’m asking all of you to get the items you need to improve your individual impressions.  Whether it is shoes, canteens, haversack or glasses let’s get it done.  Bob Williams is available to help you make the right choices from the right vendors.  He can be reached at 336-854-8805 or email at williams3752@bellsouth.net.  We have a great reputation in the reenacting community; let’s keep it.

Lastly, we all need to make a commitment to the schedule outlined on this page for us to have a successful year.  Commitment is my expectation of each member of this organization.

See you around Eddie’s Cook TableJ
